Top Chef in the House
Executive Chef Jen Biesty brings an inspired mix of rustic and fresh, Italian and Californian to the table. Pastry Chef Tim Nugent's dessert creations send Scala's guests off sated and dazzled. If they look familiar, it may be because our top chefs are also Top Chefs, having appeared on the Bravo tv show.

You'll find one of San Francisco's finest restaurants exactly where you need it. Scala's is just off Union Square, next to the Sir Francis Drake Hotel, right on the Powell Street cable car line, and a short walk from the Theater District, Moscone Center, MOMA, Chinatown, and Market Street shopping.
Sugar & Spice at Scala's Bistro
You couldn't get between Tim Nugent and his gelato if you tried. The Pastry Chef is enamored with the icy treat and makes his very own from scratch using all kinds of unexpected savory ingredients (think basil, tarragon and thyme). Indeed, he's on a big sugar and spice kick these days. "It keeps things interesting," he says of his love of seasonings. See for yourself how these surprising flavors combine at a special pastry demonstration led by Nugent . And be sure to try his recipes at home.
